Eight Great Directors Assemble to Tackle Anna Deavere Smith's HOUSE ARREST
Rehearsals begin for our October virtual production
Rehearsals for our October production of HOUSE ARRESTbegan this week—with some exciting artists enlivening our Zoom rehearsal rooms. The play features over forty characters, from President Jefferson through to President Clinton, and a wide array of Washington insiders and folks from outside the beltway. Smith divides the play into eight thematic sections—each of which has its own
director.
Our eight
directors include a mix of Theatreworks veterans and new faces: Lynne Hastings (RAISIN IN THE SUN, HAPPY DAYS, former Artistic Producer); Kevin Landis (head of UCCS Theatre&Dance, WILD HONEY); Marisa Hébert (THE MOUNTAINTOP, the upcoming EVERY BRILLIANT THING); Sarah Sheppard Shaver (head of Theatre at PPCC; AMERICAN PROM); Kathryn Walsh (MEASURE FOR MEASURE, the upcoming TWELFTH NIGHT); Alysabeth Clements (too many Theatreworks productions to mention!); Pascale Florestal (new to Theatreworks and an exceptional Boston-based artist) and Caitlin Lowans (Theatreworks Artistic Director, ARCADIA).
These fantastic directors and cast of sixteen will bring the world of the American Presidency to life.
